July 2025: Music In Me Studio

We have many Summer events coming up! Mark your calendars for our Back to School Bash on August 23rd!

Calling All Theatre Nerds...

Whether you love being the center of attention and the lead, or hanging out with your friends in

the ensemble, or playing in the orchestra pit, or working in technical theatre, or maybe even

directing or music directing, summer is a great time to think about your priorities. At the Music In Me Studio, we emphasize the importance of choosing your own priorities so someone else does not choose them for you.

Start by looking up any available information from your favorite theatres and school theatres to

see which shows happen at which times. Then ask your friends and those actors you respect

about any theatres you may not be aware of and look for any information about those theatres.

Summer tends to be a great time for reflection, since you are usually out of your typical routine. Even

when you’re traveling, that can be the perfect time to think about what you enjoy and what you want

to accomplish in the next year.

Once you’ve decided what you’d like to accomplish, think about which things would help you reach your

goals. It can be so easy to overload our plates with too many good things (I’m saying this to myself,

too) and then we don’t enjoy the process and sometimes we don’t actually reach our goals.

A group of people sit attentively on stage, facing an instructor holding notes. The setting is a dimly lit theater, evoking focus and learning.
Music In Me Studio encourages you to rediscover your love of the craft.

I would encourage you to take out your calendar/planner and plot out the times for the things you

definitely want to audition/volunteer for. Make sure they don’t prohibit you from attending important

family events and that you build in down time to refresh. It’s also important to build in time to practice

and visit your teachers, because consistent practice and training is what creates those habits that help

you reach your goals.

It's fun to be a theatre nerd when you feel refreshed and have worked on your craft!

Love & Prayers, Becky Barrett-Jones

In order to keep our students, staff, and teachers safe, we take extra care of our students, teachers, and families. We foster transparency between teachers and parents with office staff. We also offer an open-door policy for parents, which means that they’re
always invited to sit in on their child’s lessons.
